
City Tour ( Half day tour )
The city tour takes between three and a half and four hours in the company of a
professional guide in comfortable tourist vehicles, and includes:
1.
Convent and church of Santo Domingo and Qorikancha, one of the oldest in South
America, built and founded in 1540 on the site of the Inca Temple of the Sun, or
Qoricancha, The Golden Enclousure once the most important shrine in the Inca
empire and said to have been covered in gold and silver sheets in the bigining
had the name of Inti Wasi the house of the Sun, time after had the name of Inti
Kancha and in the gold period of the Incas was call as Qorikancha, where there

niches for the oferings.

Cathedral Basilica, to day is like our colonial religious museum was built in
the Renaissance style between 1556 and 1654, and decorated with important
paintings from the “Cusco School of Painting” and a magnificent choirstall and
pulpit carved in cedar wood, built on the site of the palace of Inca Wiraqocha.
The high altar is silvered and there is a painting of Christ attributed to Van
Dyck. Much venerated is the crucifix of El Señor de los Temblores or the Lord of
the earthquaques.

Sacsayhuaman, On a hill in the northern outskirts of Cusco is located the great
Inca architecture work this monolithic temple was known as the "Royal House of
the Sun" by the Incas and simply as the “Fortress” by the Spanish, is
interesting for the impressive huge rocks weighing up to 130 tons are fitted
together with absolute perfection; 3 walls run parallel for over 360 metres and
there are 21 bastions all in zig zags stone walls.
4. Q´enqo, The Temple and Amphitheatre with excellent examples of Inca stone carvin,
especially inside the large hollowed-cut stone that houses an altar, a limestone
outcrop temple dedicated to worship to the Mother Earth.
5. PUKA
PUKARA, On the same road 7 km of Cusco are the Inca fortress of Puka Pukara (
the red fortress ) with a perfect location for to have a good view over around
and on the Inca trail to the north east of Cusco.
6.
Tambomachay, A spring shrine dedicated to the worship of water. The architecture
structure is in excellent condition; water still flows by a hidden channel out
of he masonry wall, straight into the water fountain on the stone walls there
are some big trapezoidal niches.
