MACHUPICCHU - FULL DAY TOUR
As a New Wonders of the Modern World
One of the most important archaeológical site of Cusco and an important tourist atraction in Cusco región. Machupicchu is the goal of all the thousands of visitors who flock to Peru each year. For centuries this lost city remained covered by dense jungle vegetation, until its discovery in 1911 by Hiram Bingham. To day this citadel is considered to be one of the most extraordinary examples of landscape architecture in the world and transformed it into the most evocative symbol of ancient Perú.

Is situated in a enclave on the saddle of a mountain overlooking the deep cayon of the Urubamaba River in a area of lush tropical forest. The location of Machupicchu was apparently choosen because it was ideally suited to the necessities of Inca religious ceremonies in all that different temples are into the site, which are closely linked to the sacred geography of the area and the constellations. And some also consider it to be a mystical place that exudes vital energy.

Machupicchu is remarkable for its solid construction, its well balanced use of space and the harmony of the design with its natural surroundings. Its name cames from the ancient Quechua word that means old mountain. The site was built entirely of stone, using every space in harmony with function and into the site comprises more than two hundred buildings: including baths, fountains, temples, palaces, and houses, all are connected by stone stairways.

The Machupicchu Historical Sanctuary (32,492 hectares-80,255 acres) is a natural reserve, which UNESCO declared a World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site in 1983.
And now as a New Wonders of the modern world.
